A manta ray that seems to float
Silent, expansive, almost unreal. The manta ray fascinates with the way it glides through water as if time itself were slowing down. This 3D paper origami model captures that exact feeling. Once assembled, the fully spread silhouette gives the impression that it is floating on the wall, somewhere between art and nature.
This papercraft offers two interpretations: a trophy version designed to be mounted on the wall, and a hanging mobile version that enhances the sense of movement. In both cases, the result is striking, with fluid lines and a strong visual presence—perfect for contemporary marine-inspired decor.
Technical details of the model
- Final dimensions: approx. 650 mm from head to tail and 510 mm from wingtip to wingtip
- Number of pages: 12 pages in A3 or 23 pages in A4 (identical final size)
- Difficulty levels: easy (trophy), intermediate (hanging mobile), difficult (sculpture with base)
The model is designed to be printed on solid-colored heavy paper. A single color is enough, but anything goes: mineral white, deep blue, graphic black, or bolder shades. The color choice completely transforms the atmosphere of the room.
This model naturally belongs to our origami sea animals collection, alongside other creations inspired by the depths of the ocean. A beautiful way to bring the sea into your home—without the splashes, but with plenty of character.
